The 56th death anniversary of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Perarignar Anna was observed today with solemn tributes. Chief Minister MK Stalin, along with Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, DMK General Secretary Durai Murugan, Treasurer DR Balu, and other senior leaders, paid homage by laying a wreath and showering flowers at the Anna Memorial on Kamaraj Salai.
Earlier, a silent march commenced from Wallajah Road near the Government Guest House and concluded at the Anna Memorial. The march was led by CM Stalin and witnessed participation from Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister Duraimurugan, DMK Treasurer DR Balu, MP A Raja, and several state ministers, including MRK Panneerselvam, Rajakannappan, M Subramanian, Sekarbabu, Meiyanathan, Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, and Mathivendan. Also present were DMK Organizing Secretary RS Bharathi, Press Relations Committee Chairman TKS Ilangovan, MLAs, Chennai Mayor, Deputy Mayor, and thousands of DMK supporters.
After the rally, the leaders paid their respects at the Anna Memorial. CM Stalin also visited the Karunanidhi Memorial at Marina to offer his homage.
On social media, CM Stalin posted a tribute, stating, "Let us work tirelessly in the way of Anna!" Quoting Anna’s words on Periyar, he added, “Periyar’s entire life was a fight for the right to say whatever is on his mind, no matter what. The victory he saw in that was great. The results of that victory were not only for him but for everyone today.”
Expressing his gratitude, he further stated, "All praise and thanks to Perarignar Anna, the great son of the Tamil motherland, who gave us the glory and enlightenment of Father Periyar! Our goal is great! The journey to achieve it is also great! We will strive to win this ideal journey with the love and support of the people!"
