On the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Chief Minister MK Stalin urged the public to support the weavers and embrace Khadi clothing.
In a message published in newspapers, he highlighted Tamil Nadu's long-standing tradition of handloom weaving, which Gandhi promoted as a symbol of non-violence during India's freedom struggle.
CM Stalin emphasised the Tamil Nadu Government’s efforts to support Khadi spinners and weavers through the Khadi Village Industries Board, offering various welfare schemes for their economic development.
He pointed out that Khadi cotton, polyester, and silk are sold at a 30% discount year-round, making them accessible to the public.
He called upon students, youth, government employees, and faculty members to purchase more Khadi and village products to help uplift the lives of Khadi artisans and strengthen the Khadi industry.
