Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is expected to inaugurate the newly constructed mofussil bus terminus built at Solar by Erode Corporation when he visits the district on November 27.
The bus terminus, built at a cost of ₹74.90 crore on an area of 19.9 acres, is nearing completion. It covers an area of 12,247 square metres and will have 63 bus bays, 134 shops, parking for 883 two-wheelers and an auto stand with a capacity of 100 vehicles.
Facilities for passengers include booking counters, toilets, hotels and a cloakroom. The first floor will have two restaurants, separate rest rooms for men and women and a modern shopping complex. The work is expected to be completed by the second week of November. The terminal will handle buses going to southern districts. This will reduce congestion at the central bus stand in Erode city.
On Thursday, Erode Municipal Corporation and TNSTC officials jointly inspected the terminus. During this, a few buses were operated on a trial basis. The officials inspected the bus movement, internal traffic flow and operational aspects to ensure smooth functioning.
The Chief Minister will participate in a government function in Gobi on November 27, and is expected to inaugurate the Solar bus stand through video conferencing from the venue.
