A review meeting with all departmental officers regarding South-West Monsoon was held by the Minister of Electricity, Prohibition V Senthil Balaji at the Collectorate on Friday.
District Collector Dr. G.S.Sameeran, City Police Commissioner V.Balakrishnan, SP V.Bathrinarayanan, Corporation Commissioner M. Prathap, District Revenue Officer P. S. Leela Alex, Pollachi Sub-Collector Thackeray Subham Gnanadevrao, Corporation Deputy Mayor Ira. Vettiselvan, and many other government officials were present.
After the meeting, the Minister told reporters, ''According to the directions of the CM, a detailed review meeting regarding South West Monsoon precautionary measures was held in District Collector's office. Necessary steps have been taken to deal with heavy rainfall in Coimbatore district.
Around 8409 km of rainwater drainage structures have been established by integrating various departments like Corporation, Municipality, Municipal Corporation, Panchayat, Highway Department.
A distance of 5 400km has been desilted. Steps are being taken to complete the remaining works within 20 days.Relief centers have been set up at 65 places to accommodate people who may be affected by the southwest monsoon and are ready to accommodate about 20,000 people. Also, the damage caused to schools and colleges in the past has been corrected so that it does not occur this year. Special precautions have been taken so that there is no impact from the southwest monsoon in the coming days.
The CM is going to visit Coimbatore district on July 14. On the morning of July 15, he is going to participate in the opening ceremony of many government projects and distribution of welfare assistance to public in Kinathukadavu area. In the government function held on that day, the largest amount of welfare benefits will be given to the beneficiaries.
Necessary medical facilities have been created to prevent the spread of corona infection. Corona infection is under control in Coimbatore district. Adequate bed facilities have been established in Government Medical College Hospital and ESI Medical College Hospitals to treat the patients affected by Corona infection.
In the case of Coimbatore district, 100 percent of the first dose of Corona vaccine and 99 percent of the second dose of vaccine have been administered to the public. Coimbatore district is a pioneer district in vaccination and preventive measures.
Road maintenance work is progressing rapidly in Coimbatore district. Steps are being taken to carry out the work on the left out roads. Metro rail works are in initial stage.
Although Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu, it is the ideal of the CM to make Coimbatore district as industrial zone. So, he is ensuring necessary financial resources and projects with holding meetings with entrepreneurs and listening their problems
