At a time when COVID-19 cases are increasing across the district, Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) management has directed the public to wear masks while visiting the hospital.
COVID-19 cases have started to rise again in India. The recent death of an elderly person due to COVID-19 in Chennai has also caused concern. Both the central and state governments have begun taking precautionary and safety measures. The state health department has advised wearing masks in crowded places.
Meanwhile, the CMCH management has advised both inpatients and outpatients, as well as their relatives, to wear masks while entering the hospital. Accordingly, security personnel at the hospital are making announcements via loudspeakers, requesting everyone entering the hospital to wear masks.
The hospital dean has stated that this is being done purely as a precautionary measure and that wearing a mask is not mandatory.
