Coimbatore Collector distributes AI-powered assistive device to the visually impaired

In a significant step toward empowering the visually impaired, Cheshire Homes Coimbatore, in collaboration with Ace Social Foundation and city-based startup HearSight, distributed 100 AI-powered assistive devices recently. Coimbatore Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati graced the event as the chief guest.
The HearSight device is a cutting-edge wearable technology providing real-time auditory descriptions, including object detection, environment recognition, and path guidance. Designed as a standalone product, it functions without internet connectivity.
Addressing the gathering, Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati praised HearSight’s innovation, highlighting its role in enabling visually impaired individuals to lead independent and economically empowered lives. He commended Coimbatore’s reputation as a hub for technological advancements and startups.
Paul Vedanayagam, Operations Officer, HearSight, emphasised the device's user-friendly nature, stating it combines technology and empathy to enhance accessibility. Thanushree from Forge Innovations highlighted their decade-long work with over 500 startups, focusing on impact innovations for marginalized communities.
Prabhu, CSR Manager, Karur Vysya Bank, applauded Forge Innovations for identifying socially impactful startups like HearSight.
The event showcased how innovative technology can transform lives, underscoring Coimbatore's leadership in fostering meaningful social change. Dhanalakshmi Govindarajan, Chairperson of Cheshire Homes Coimbatore, welcomed the attendees.
