Coimbatore Collector distributes govt aid to 72 transgenders

Coimbatore District Collector Pawankumar Giriyappanavar, provided government welfare assistance to 72 beneficiaries at a special grievance redressal camp for transgenders at the Coimbatore District Collectorate. 
There are about 700 transgenders living in Coimbatore district. 
In Coimbatore district, 647 transgenders and intersex people have been provided with state-level identity cards as of 28.04.2025. In addition, 430 people have been provided with national-level identity cards. 125 transgenders above the age of 40 have been provided with monthly pension of Rs. 1500. 134 transgenders above the age of 40 have been allocated funds and are provided with monthly pension.
Government is taking action to provide higher education assistance who are pursuing higher education. 
Under the Self-Employment Subsidy Scheme, 21 transgenders have been provided with Rs. 50,000/- each and Rs. 10,50,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakh Fifty Thousand Only) as subsidy.  Further, the proposals for providing Rs. 40,000/- each to 16 persons who applied online for self-employment subsidy loan for the financial year 2024-2025 have been sent to the government. 
Two transgenders in Coimbatore district have applied online for skill training under the Naan Multhavan scheme.
Furthermore, in the special grievance redressal camp held on 24.06.2025, 32 persons were provided with state identity cards. 17 persons with national identity cards. 11 persons with voter identity cards, 8 persons with family cards and 4 persons with Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme cards.
