The sixth round of free Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccination under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP-FMD) was carried out in the Sulur region, Coimbatore district on December 16. Coimbatore Collector Kranti Kumar Pati inaugurated the vaccination drive, which will go on for 21 days.
FMD, a disease that causes significant economic losses in livestock, can be effectively prevented through regular vaccination. To combat this, the government has been conducting free vaccinations twice a year. Livestock farmers in the district are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their animals and ensure their welfare.
The farmers and the public are encouraged to ensure their cows and other livestock receive the vaccine during the scheduled days in their villages. Zonal Associate Commissioner M Rajangam, Assistant Commissioner Ilango, Cattle Disease Investigation Unit Assistant Commissioner Geetha, Veterinary Doctor Selvarani, Veterinary Assistant Doctors Satheesh Kumar, Savitha and others were present.
