Coimbatore Collector inaugurates mobile soil testing lab

Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar K. Kiriyappanavar inaugurated a new mobile soil testing station under the National Agricultural Development Programme  to conduct soil testing and awareness camps in every village for the use of farmers at the Collectorate on Friday.
He inspected the vehicle and inquired about the operation of the soil testing equipment from the Agriculture Department officials. Joint Director Agriculture Mrs. Krishnaveni, Personal Assistant to the District Collector (Agriculture) Mr. Anandakumar. Deputy Director Mrs. Punitha, Assistant Director Thondamuthur Mr. Sakthivel, Soil Testing Agriculture Officer Mrs. Subapriya and many farmers participated in the event.
The lab costing Rs. 75 lakhs will help farmers achieve higher crop yields through soil improvement and recommended fertilizer use. It will visit pre-scheduled villages to collect soil samples from farmers, analyze them in the mobile laboratory and provide a printed soil health card to the farmers on the same day. 
A service fee of -30/- will be charged for each soil sample analysis.
