District collector Pavankumar K Giriyappanavar on Thursday inspected a ration shop, nursery, and micro irrigation project in Madukkarai region in the district.
District backward classes welfare officer Sangeetha, tahsildar Velmurugan, Tamil Nadu housing and urban development board assistant executive engineer Ramesh, BDOs Saravanan, and Chandra, junior engineer Sethuraman, assistant engineer Jayaraj, deputy BDO Irfan Ahmed and Kausalya, and others were present during the inspection.
Pavankumar inspected the housing unit that was constructed by the housing board, and directed the officials to speed up the work. He also inspected Pillayarpuram to check the free housing land patta scheme. He inspected the nursery where 3,488 saplings including neem, and native guava are grown, established at the cost of Rs 3.12 lakh in Malumichampatti in the district, and inspected the coconut plantation of Ganesan, who has planted coconut trees and corn and banana as intercrops on 7 acres under the micro irrigation scheme with a subsidy of Rs 2 lakhs. He then inspected the ration shop that was established at the cost of Rs 13.30 lakhs in Ezhur village.
