Coimbatore Collector reviews inspection of private school buses

A comprehensive inspection of private school buses was conducted at the police training ground in Coimbatore, involving the transportation, education, police, and revenue departments. District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati oversaw the inspection process.

During the review, the district collector emphasised the importance of ensuring the quality and maintenance of private buses used for transporting children. A total of 1323 school buses from 203 private schools were inspected during the process. Buses found to have issues had their licences temporarily suspended. They will undergo re-inspection after resolving the identified issues before schools reopen after vacation.

In addition to inspecting the buses, awareness sessions on road safety regulations and government welfare schemes for drivers were conducted. All drivers and helpers involved in the inspection received free eye check-ups courtesy of Vasan Eye Care hospital, along with general health check-ups. Deputy Commissioner (Transport) Rohit Nathan Rajagopal, District Education Officer Punitha, Joint Transport Officer Sivakumaran, and other government officials also participated in the event, ensuring a comprehensive review of school bus operations and safety measures.
