Coimbatore Commissioner inaugurates shops of police officers’ spouses

The Coimbatore City Police, in collaboration with students from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, initiated a program aimed at supporting police officers' spouses by facilitating part-time employment opportunities from home. Last year, students conducted an analysis of the revenue and expenditure patterns of police officers and recommended that their spouses engage in part-time jobs to supplement household income.

Based on the analysis report, Coimbatore City Police organised workshops to train spouses in various skills such as making jam juice, multigrain ice cream, energy milk powder, pickles, and spice powders. The workshops also covered marketing strategies to help them sell these products effectively.

As a result of these efforts, Coimbatore City Police has now established two shops where spouses can sell their homemade products to the public. Coimbatore City Commissioner Balakrishnan inaugurated these shops on Monday. The shops offer a variety of food items including homemade chocolates, multigrain biscuits, masala powder, homemade soup, cooking oils, snacks, and buns.

Commissioner Balakrishnan emphasised that this initiative aims to empower the spouses of police officials by providing them with entrepreneurial opportunities.
