Coimbatore Ramanathapuram Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese condemns nuns arrest

The Coimbatore Ramanathapuram Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese has strongly condemned the arrest of two Malayali nuns on charges of conversion and human trafficking in Chhattisgarh.   Despite the written consent of the girls' parents for conversion, the arrest was made. It is
against the Constitution of India, said the Bishop of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Ramanathapuram, Bishop. Mar Paul Alappatt.
He further said that
the arrest of nuns who selflessly work in patient care and social service on false charges is a challenge to the rule of law and an insult to democratic India.  He  demanded the government 's intervention in the increasing atrocities against Christians priests and nuns, and justice to the nuns.
