Tirupur district collector T. Christhuraj today flagged off the road safety awareness rally at the collectorate on Monday.
Later, he said the Chief Minister has instructed to carry out various road safety awareness activities to create a road accident free Tamil Nadu.
In view of the Kalaignar's centenary and on behalf of Tirupur South Regional Transport Office, the road safety awareness rally was launched. Awareness activities are being carried out by the District Transport Office to create awareness among the public about road safety rules and avoid accidents and casualties.
Road safety means that every individual follows the rules of the road and avoids accidents. Participation of all people in awareness campaign is very important. A two-wheeler and four-wheeler rally started at the District Collector's office and ended at Nochipalayam, stressing the need to wear helmets and seat belts and follow road rules properly.
More than 50 two-wheelers and more than 40 four-wheelers participated in the rally to create awareness about road safety. Awareness pamphlets and booklets were issued to the public and motorists to emphasize the mandatory wearing of helmets and seat belts. All citizens should follow the road rules properly and cooperate to create an accident-free district, he pleaded.
In this event, District Superintendent of Police Mr. Saminathan, District Transport Officer (Tirupur South) Mr. Anand, District Transport Inspector Mrs. Nirmala, departmental officers and many members of the public were present.
