Collector hears farmers' grievances

 Tiruppur District Collector T Christuraj presided over the Farmers Grievance Redressal Day meeting at the Tirupur District Collectorate on Thursday.

He said  series of activities are being carried out by the district administration to ensure that all the schemes announced and implemented by the government with emphasis on agricultural production are fully available to the farmers. 

The normal annual rainfall of Tirupur district is 618.20 mm. But, the district received 6.9 mm less than the average rainfall thus year. There is sufficient availability of seeds of rice and other pulses for crop cultivation. Accordingly, the stock of paddy is 5.425 MT, minor millets 3.78 MT, pulses 3.02 MT and oilseeds 11.40 MT. Urea 3152 MT, D.A.P. 1633 metric ton, complex 8,877 metric ton and super phosphate 735 metric ton are in stock, collector said.

Representatives of various agricultural societies and farmers attended. The collector directed the officials to take immediate action on all the demands of ryots. He received 158 petitions from the farmers. District Revenue Officer Mr. T. P. Jaibeem, Tirupur Sub Collector Soumya Anand,  Associate Director (Agriculture) Mrs. Muthulakshmi, Joint Director (Cooperative Societies) S. Srinivasan, PA to District Collector (Agriculture) Krishnaveni, Deputy Collectors and other officers of all departments, representatives of agricultural societies and farmers were present.
