Collector Dr. G.S.Sameeran inspected the flyover works in the areas of Periyanayakanpalayam and GN Mills in Coimbatore district. A flyover is being constructed on National Highway No. 67 from Km 362/790 to Km 364/555 via Periyanayakanpalayam junction under the annual plan of the Central Road Transport Ministry at a cost of Rs.115.24 crore.  

This bridge is being constructed at a length of 658 m.  The four-lane flyover to be constructed on National Highway No.67 starts at Ramakrishna Polytechnic College and ends at LMW Junction, Periyanayakanpalayam Junction and Vannancovil Junction. It will reduce traffic congestion at three junctions.  Vehicles going from Coimbatore - Mettupalayam can easily travel.  80 percent of the bridge work has been completed.  Remaining work is in progress.

Another flyover is being constructed in the GN Mills Junction area from km 352/320 - 352/990 under the Central Road Fund Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs 41.88 crore.  The four-lane flyover to be constructed on National Highway No. 67 will start at John Pasco Church and end at G.N. Mills Junction, Coimbatore Vellakinaru section. 

 This bridge will reduce the traffic congestion at GN Mills junction on the road to Mettupalayam and vehicles will be able to move easily.  He asked the officers to complete the work quickly.
Later, he inspected the construction of rainwater harvesting pond under MGNREGS at Kadirnayakkanpalayam, in the Kausika stream branch drain.
