Tiruvannamalai District Collector Bhaskara Pandian inspected the ongoing repair work of Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleswarar temple car at a cost of Rs 70 lakh on Sunday.
He said the car is about 59 feet tall and weighs about 200 tons. Of 470 sculptures in the car, 203 have been renovated at present. The damaged portions of the car were being charged.
Swami Thiruther Vellotam (trial run) will be held on Nov 8. The Car festival is scheduled to be held on December 10. Not only that, all the sculptures have been painted with bright colors and varnishes so that they can be seen clearly. The temple is being renovated after many years and the renovation work is progressing well.
Stability Certificate for the said event has been requested from Public Works Department and Road Stability Certificate from Highways Department.
In this event, District Revenue Officer Ram Pradeepan, Temple Joint Commissioner Jyoti Trustee Committee Chairman Jeevanandam and government department officials were present.
