Collector inspects temporary bus stands

District collector K Tharpagaraj on Friday inspected the temporary bus stands that have been set up ahead of the Chitra Pournami festival at the Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar temple in the district.
The festival which begins on May 11, will conclude on the next day. Lakhs of devotees are expected to attend the festival.
The collector had already chaired a meeting to review the preparatory works of the festival to prevent untoward incidents during the festival. On Friday, he inspected the temple, shops set up along the Girivalam path, checked the drinking water facilities and other basic facilities arranged in and around the temple premises.
He also inspected the Cheriyanthal region, agriculture sales and regulatory centre on Avalurpet road, the city corporation official, government medical college hospital, temporary bus stands, municipal boy’s higher secondary school, and sugar mill in Malappadai panchayat among others. He also reviewed the traffic arrangements made by the highways department.
SP M Sudhakar, district revenue officer I Ram Pradeepan, revenue divisional officer Raj Kumar, corporation commissioner Selva Balaji, assistant director (panchayats) Vadivelan, tahsildar Mohanaraman, BDO and other officials were present during the inspection.
