Collector reviews voter list revision camps in Salem district

District Election Officer and Collector Dr. R. Brindha Devi inspected special voter list revision camps at polling stations in Salem on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
The initiative, mandated by the Election Commission of India, aims to finalize the draft electoral roll for 2025, which was released on October 29, 2024.
Special revision camps are being held on November 23 and 24, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., across 3,264 polling stations in Salem District, covering 11 Assembly constituencies. These follow earlier camps held on November 16 and 17, during which 42,107 applications were processed for additions, deletions, corrections, and transpositions in the voter list using Forms 6, 6A, 7, and 8.
During the inspection at Mallamuppampatti Panchayat Union Primary School, Dr. Brindha Devi ensured compliance with Election Commission guidelines. She emphasized the importance of registering eligible voters who turn 18 by January 1, 2025, or earlier, and those born before December 31, 2006.
Applicants can apply for name inclusion via Form 6, deletions via Form 7, and corrections or transpositions via Form 8.
Provisions are also in place for 17-year-olds born by September 30, 2007, to pre-register for the voter list based on future eligibility dates in 2025.
Online applications can be submitted through the Voters portal or the "Voter Helpline" mobile app. Additionally, the toll-free number 1950 is available for voter registration inquiries. The final voter list will be published on January 6, 2025, following the conclusion of the application process on November 28, 2024.
