Community baby shower function organized

The deputy speaker of legislative assembly K Pitchandi inaugurated a community baby shower function that was organized for 100 pregnant women at a private hall in Naidumangalam panchayat near Thurinjapuram in the district on Sunday.

The event was presided over by former district committee panchayat vice-president Bharathi Ramajayam, while former union committee presidents VP Annamalai and Damayanthi Ezhumalai were present. Child development project officer Saranya delivered the welcome speech.

Addressing the gathering, Pitchandi said, “The state government has been implementing several welfare schemes for pregnant women, and the Integrated Child Development Programme (ICDS) is important among them. Nutritious foods, medical tests and awareness are provided keeping in mind the health of mothers and the development of the child.”

As a part of the event, a food health awareness exhibition was held, where information on cereals and nutritious food items, and medical tests were done for the women.
The district social welfare officer created awareness about ‘let’s save and educate girl children’. Scheme, prevention of child marriage, and emergency help phone numbers (1098, 181, 1930) at the event.
The event was attended by the district ICDS officer Meenabmbigai, general committee member Balu, literary team organizer Prabhakaran, former local government representatives, DMK executives, government officials, anganwadi workers, and a large number of pregnant women.
