Compensation for victims of violence and sexual abuse has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, Chief Minister MK Stalin announced at a meeting of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department.
A high-level meeting of the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Awareness and Monitoring Committee meeting was held at the General Secretariat,
Chennai under the chairmanship of Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister MK Stalin said, “This government is working on the path of social justice.
No matter how many attempts are made to prevent incidents of violence and abuse, there are still some problems. Steps will be taken to set up additional courts to hear cases of abuse. Compensation for victims of violence and abuse has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.
Rs 128 crore has been earmarked for improving infrastructure facilities in Adi Dravidar and Tribal schools. A student hostel will be built at a cost of Rs 40 crore in Nandanam, Chennai.
