Concluding Ceremony of the 44th Chess Olympiad today; Chief Minister MK Stalin to distribute Medal

The 44th Chess Olympiad which is taking place at Mahabalipuram since August 28, to conclude today. The concluding ceremony of the Olympiad would take place at the Nehru indoor stadium in Chennai. The Chief Minister MK Stalin would distribute prizes to the winners during the ceremony. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the tournament on August 28 at the stadium. The Tamil Nadu government had pulled all the strings to make it a grand success and to create awareness among the public. During the inauguration ceremony, events explaining the history and culture of Tamil Nadu took place.


The competitions have been taking place at four points resort in Mahabalipuram since August 29 and more than 2,000 players from several countries took part in it. 


After 12 long days, the olympiad comes to an end on Tuesday and the valedictory function is scheduled to take place between 5:30 and 6:30 pm. Cultural events are likely to take place in the ceremony. 


Chief Minister MK Stalin would be distributing medals to the winners. Former captain of Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni would be participating in the ceremony as the chief guest along with the Chess Master Viswanath Anand. 

Police protection has been intensified around the stadium ahead of the ceremony 
Director Vignesh Sivan who coordinated the inaugural ceremony of the olympiad, would be 
coordinating the concluding ceremony as well. On the last day of the olympiad, Indian women A team has gone up to the leading position.
