Cong cadres stage demo

Eode Congress cadres led by Youth Congress state president Lenin Prasad staged a demo in front of the Erode district Congress office with tying their mouth with white cloth  condemning the Supreme Court's order to release Perarivalan, accused in the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. 

Lenin Prasad said   Congress opposes the release.  Perarivalan convicted in Rajiv Gandhi murder case.  It is therefore reprehensible for some to celebrate his liberation today as something like the liberation of a martyr.  Along with Rajiv Gandhi, 18 people were killed.  They are also Tamils.  No one talked about them.  Similarly, thousands have spent years in prison.  No one cares about them either. 

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi have said that Rajiv's killers should not be hanged on humanitarian grounds .But we, the Congress volunteers, felt that they should face the punishment they deserve.  We do not consider it necessary to criticize SC in this regard. It didn't not say he was not guilty. But the media and some parties portray him as a martyr.  This is reprehensible. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has said that legal advice will be sought on the release of others involved in the assassination. 

That is the position of the DMK .But the position of the Congress is that the culprits should not be released.  If Rajiv Gandhi was alive today, this country would be a great super power now.  The retrograde, communal forces are dominating today because of his absence. The country is lagging behind in economy, he said. Party functionaries Senthur Rajagobal, MM Harshad, KN Batcha,  Rajesh Rajappa, Thiruelvam and many others attended.
