Congratulations to ISRO for launching its 100th child GSLV-F15

Congratulations to ISRO for launching its 100th child GSLV-F15

The Sriharikota launch pad continues to set records in rocket launches. The first rocket SLV-3E 10 was launched from Sriharikota on August 10, 1979. However, this attempt was only partially successful. After that, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who later became the President of India, took over as the chairman of ISRO. Under his leadership, another rocket SLV-3E2  was launched on July 19, 1980, marking ISRO’s first complete success.
Since then, ISRO has launched a series of rockets, including 2 SLV rockets, 4 ASLV, 62 PSLV, followed by 16 GSLV, 7 LMV3, 3 SSLV, and 1 RLV. With these, ISRO has now successfully launched 100 rockets.
Among them, the Chandrayaan missions, Chandrayaan-1 in 2008, Chandrayaan-2  in 2019, and Chandrayaan-3 in 2023 have made India proud on the global stage. In addition, the Mars Orbiter Mission in 2013 and Aditya-L1 in 2023, launched to study the Sun, have further strengthened India’s space achievements.
ISRO has also made history in satellite launches. In 2017, it launched 104 satellites on a single rocket, setting a record for the highest number of satellites launched at once, a record India held until 2021.
However, not every mission from Sriharikota has been a success. Some rockets, including the INSAT-4C satellite in 2006, multiple launches in 2010, and an Earth observation satellite mission in 2021, faced failures. Despite these setbacks, Sriharikota has achieved far more successes than failures.
Today, India has successfully launched its 100th rocket, GSLV-F15. This satellite is designed to provide precise navigation, capable of locating a person even 1,500 km away from India. The data from this satellite will be primarily used for security, search and rescue, and border patrol. It also includes features for public use.
Congratulations to ISRO’s 100th child, which soared into space today from Sriharikota and successfully entered its orbit!
