BCCI Secretary and Union Home Minister Amit Shah's son Jai Shah has been unanimously elected as the President of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Jay Shah, who is 35 years old, has become the youngest person to hold the post by being selected as the ICC President. He also holds the distinction of being the fifth Indian to sit on the ICC president's list.
Jai Shah, who has been responsible for state and national level cricket organizations for the past 15 years, has demonstrated his skillful work and is currently the highest-ranking ICC president in cricket. It is no exaggeration to say that this is an honor for India.
It was during the tenure of Jai Shah who served as the BCCI Secretary from 2019 till now that the IPL reached many heights. IPL became the second highest grossing sports series in the world. Also, Team India won the 2024 T20 World Cup. He handled two greats like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma with skill.
Jai Shah was keen to include cricket in Asian competitions when he was the president of the Asian Cricket Council. Now he is serious about including cricket in the Olympics. In this context, he has assumed charge of the ICC president, and there is no doubt that he will play an important role in the inclusion of cricket in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.
