Corpn workers withdraw strike

Following an assurance given by Housing Minister S Muthusamy to find a permanent solution to their problem, the Erode Corporation temporary workers withdrew their 4 day strike. The corporation has over 1000 temporary workers working under the SHGs in engineering, public health administration sections etc and were getting wages from the civic body directly. 

But, last month, the government issued a GO to outsource the workers through private fims. So, the workers feared that they would be ousted and their wages be reduced drastically by private firms. So, they started an indefinte strike from Oct 30.  The housing minister held talks with the agitating workers in the corporation premises on Thursday and assured to take up their issue to the government. So, the workers withdrew the stir on Friday.
