An urgent State Executive Committee Meeting of the Federation of All Municipal Corporation Officers Associations of Tamilnadu was held at Coimbatore under the chairmanship of Mr. V. Radhakrishnan, president of the federation on Sunday.
It demanded withdrawal of GO 152 outsoursing private agencies to engage staff for various posts in 20 corporations and municipalities instead of filling up the posts on permanent basis and giving pays through the local bodies.
It would strongly hit job opportunities of educated youths, and social justice, it said. State General Secretary Mr. Ira Seetharaman, State Treasurer Mr. A. Ramachandran, Coimbatore Regional Secretary Mr. N. Sakthivel presided. Functionaries of the federation participated in large numbers. The meeting decided to meet the CM, Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Commissioners on Nov 9 and 10 and Municipal Administration Minister, Additional Chief Secretary to Government and Municipal Executive Director in Chennai on Nov 11 and submit petitiond in this regard.
If there is no positive progress after the meeting with the Minister and officials, then one-day strike in 20 Municipal Corporations across Tamil Nadu will be held on Nov 20. The final decision on the issue will be taken in the state executive meeting to be held at Trichy on Nov 20.
