Students of Covai Stables won 13 medals at the equestrian meet that took place at Bengaluru recently. Over 60 students are getting trained in horse riding techniques at the school which has been functioning at Kalapatti in the city. The school has more than 20 local and foreign breed horses.
Seven students of the school took part in NEC prelim and junior equestrian championship took place in Bhopal in 2022 and grabbed six medals. They also won the best player award. The championship for the year 2023 took place from December 20 to 28 in Bengaluru. Students – Aradhana, Anand, Harsith Arunkumar, Vignesh Krishna, Prithiv Krishna, Dhivyesh Ram, Arjun Sabari, Prathik Raj, Aadav Kandasamy, Ram Reddy, Arman, Thanshika and Rahul – participated in the tournament along with 13 horses. They were trained by coaches Senthilnathan and Sriram Shanmugam. It was conducted under show jumping, eventing and dressage categories.
The students won two gold medals, four silver medals and seven bronze medals under show jumping category.
Covai Stables founder Saravanan said, “Over 450 horses and more than 250 players participated in the tournament this year. 11 students of our school, including two girls, won 13 medals. Both physical and mental health are important for horse riding.
The students also undergo Yoga training at the school. It also helps the students to reach greater heights.”
Students are also getting trained to participate in a tournament scheduled to take place in Belgium.
