Demo on drone applications for first year students in VCET

A demonstration on the applications of drones was held yesterday at the Erode Velalar College of Engineering and Technology (VCET) for first year students and parents.
It  was inaugurated by the college foundation administrator M Yuvaraja and the principal Jayaraman Dean Jayachandran at the commencement of the first year classes. At the exhibition, the head of the ECE department Nisha Angelin and assistant professor Gopalan explained the various drone applications to the students and parents.
They said: Drones play a very important role in the defence sector. They are used to spray pesticides and micronutrients in the agricultural sector. They also help in providing relief materials during storms and floods and carrying relief materials to areas where humans cannot move. A separate laboratory has been created in the ECE department to conduct research in the field of drones and semiconductors. Similarly, a laboratory has been created in the mechanical department to conduct research on robots.
