Demo on effectiveness of biostimulant held at ARS,Bhavani sagar

 With the financial support from Bill and Melinda Gates foundation a research trial on soybean was undertaken for assessing the efficacy of biofertilizers in improving the yield and yield components

at the Agricultural Research Station, Bhavanisagar.

  The field day was organized to illustrate the outcome of the research trial to the farmers of Erode District. Around 67 farmers from 7 different blocks of the district participated in the programme. Dr.N.Sakthivel, Professor and Head welcomed the gathering.  Professor Dr.P.Balachander and Associate Professor Dr.R.Anandhan form Agricultural Microbiology Department of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore elaborated in detail about the benefits that could be realized by the application of biofertilizers to field crops in terms of gain in soil health and reduction in using organic fertilizers without compromising the yield.  It was also witnessed by the farmers in the field demonstration of the soybean research trial.  Deputy Director of Agriculture, Erode District M.Tamilselvi (State Schemes) explained in detail about the state as well as centrally sponsored schemes in promoting the usage of biofertilizers in field crops.  Technical programme was followed by an interactive session with the scientists. 

So, from the field demonstration as well as the detailed discussions of the technical sessions the farmers learnt about the benefits that could be reaped by the application of biofertilizers to field crops and accepted to practice it while cultivating the crops.  The arrangements for the successful conduct of the training programme were coordinated by Dr.K.Amudha and Dr.Shoba Thingalmaniyan Associate Professors of the Research Station, Bhavanisagar.
