DEO conducts last hour review of preparations for smooth electoral process ahead of polling

Dr. R Brindadevi, the District Election Officer and District Collector, personally visited key polling centers, including Salem Cluny Matriculation High School and Salem Sarada High School, to oversee and ensure that the preparations are meticulous, with a significant deployment of resources and personnel to ensure a smooth electoral process.
A staggering array of 4,264 electronic voting machines, 2,132 control devices, and 2,307 vote verification devices (VVPAT) have been dispatched to 1,766 polling stations across the constituency. The demographic landscape of Salem Lok Sabha constituency reveals a diverse electorate. . In the Lok Sabha constituency there are a total of 16,58,681 bonafide voters (Men 8,28,152 are women 8,30,307 and others 222 people) . As many as 172 Zonal Officers have been appointed to monitor smooth polling at polling centres. Also, 235 polling stations in 11 assembly constituencies across Salem district have been classified as tense and 15 polling stations as highly tense.
Ensuring the integrity and security of the polling process particularly in areas identified as sensitive, 172 Zonal Officers have been appointed to oversee operations at these polling centers. 
Additionally, 235 polling stations across 11 assembly constituencies in Salem district have been classified based on tension levels, with 15 polling stations deemed highly tense. Heightened security measures are in place to safeguard the electoral process. 
The State Election Commissioner's Office, along with District Election Officers and the District Collector, will directly monitor troubled polling stations via CCTV cameras. 
Furthermore, election micro-observers and Central Industrial Security Forces have been deployed to maintain order and uphold the sanctity of the vote.
Basic amenities such as drinking water, sanitation facilities, and electricity have been arranged at all polling stations. Special provisions, including ramps for differently-abled voters, have been made to ensure accessibility for all citizens exercising their democratic right. 
With all arrangements in place, Salem Lok Sabha constituency stands poised for smooth and fair electoral exercise. Voters are urged to participate actively and responsibly in the democratic process by casting their ballots.
