The Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, K. Pichandi, inaugurated the Polio vaccination camp at Tiruvannamalai Municipal Central Bus Station and personally distributed polio drops to the children. Accompanying him were District Collector D. Bhaskarapandian and District Health Officer Dr. R. Selvakumar.
The vaccination camp was conducted across 1992 centres, including Government Primary Health Centers, Government Hospitals, Anganwadi Centers, Nutrition Centers, Schools, and other important locations. Over 1 lakh children under the age of 5 were administered polio drops with the assistance of 7103 individuals, including health workers, Anganwadi workers, teachers, and volunteers who actively participated in the campaign at various polio centres. Special attention was given to children of migrant parents, ensuring they also received the polio drops on the designated day. Additionally, arrangements were made to reach children residing in remote and inaccessible areas through mobile medical teams.
The event saw the presence of Tiruvannamalai City Council Deputy Chairman S. Rajangam, Municipal Commissioner M.R. Vasanthi, City Welfare Officer Dr. Weerasamy, and other department officers, who all contributed to the success of the vaccination campaign.
