Nilgiris Additional Collector Koushik inaugurated a diarrhoea prevention camp and a Vitamin A distribution camp at Finger Post Anganwadi on July 1. The event was organised by the Department of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine.
The camp provided each child between 2 and 5 years of age with ORS liquid and 14 zinc tablets. Infants between 6 months and 1 year of age received one lakh I.U of liquid Vitamin A, while children over 1 year of age were given two lakh I.U of liquid Vitamin A.
These provisions were made available across all Anganwadi centres, sub-health care centres, and government primary health centres in the Nilgiris district, benefiting 43,480 children under the age of 5.
Deputy Director of the Hygiene Department, Balusami, Child Development Program Officer Devakumari, District Medical Officer Murugesan, and other government officials were also present during the camp.
