District Monitoring Officer, Government Secretary, School Education S Madhumati, and District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian visited the paddy seed farm in Kilpennathur on August 5, accompanied by the media, and conducted a field inspection.
The Tamil Nadu government has announced various schemes for the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, which are being implemented effectively. To provide quality rice seeds to farmers, seed farms have been established across Tamil Nadu, and quality rice seeds are being cultivated and distributed to farmers at a 50% subsidy.
In Tiruvannamalai district, the target for Sornavari paddy seed farm has been set at 200 hectares, with 131.1 hectares achieved so far. The breakdown includes 12 hectares in Tiruvannamalai Taluk, 1.2 hectares in Thuringia Puram Taluk, 11.6 hectares in Kilpennathur Taluk, 6.8 hectares in Thandarampattu Taluk, 3.2 hectares in Pudupalayam Taluk, 15 hectares in Kalasapakkam Taluk, 10 hectares in Bolwar area, 3 hectares in Sethupattu locality, 8.6 hectares in Arani Taluk, 6.5 hectares in West Arani Taluk, 2.8 hectares in Vandavasi Taluk, 16 hectares in Tellar district, 6.4 hectares in Peranamallur Taluk, 8 hectares in Cheyyar Taluk, 15.2 hectares in Anakavur area, 5.1 hectares in Vembakkam area.
The District Monitoring Officer and District Collector inspected a 5-acre area under the Paddy Producing Scheme in Kilpennathur, where 55 types of paddy seed farms and paddy cultivation are being maintained. They surveyed the land of Chandra and Kesavan, inquired about the cultivation period and fertilisers used, and discussed subsidies and contributions from the agriculture department.
Agriculture Department officials, farmers, and reporters were present during the field study.
