DMK delegation hands over CM’s letter to President

Tamil Nadu law minister S Regupathy along with a team of DMK MPs met President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday and handed over Chief Minister MK Stalin’s letter on the conduct of Governor RN Ravi in the Assembly to her.

DMK MPs TR Baalu, A Raja, P Wilson and NR Elango accompanied the minister to New Delhi.   Just like every year, the first session of the state assembly session commenced with the Governor’s customary address on Monday.

Tamil Nadu government’ and ‘Dravidian model’

But the assembly has been rocked by an unprecedented tussle between the state government and the Governor RN Ravi after the latter omitted the reference to ‘Tamil Nadu government’ and ‘Dravidian model’ in the approved text of speech and included certain portions on it.

This forced the Chief Minister to step in and pass a resolution demanding only the approved text of speech and the Tamil translation read by the speaker to be put in records. Marking a protest, Ravi walked out of the assembly midway followed by his secretary and staff. Subsequently, protests broke out condemning the behaviour of Ravi across the state. Political leaders, outfits and students’ organizations are protesting for three consecutive days in several parts of the state.
