Though the CM claimed 99 percent of poll promises were fulfilled, many out of 505 promises were not yet fulfilled, charged BJP state president M Annamalai.
Addresssing public during his 'En Mann: En Makkal Yathra' at Tanjore, on Sunday, he said that DMK teased Kamarajar in many ways when he was alive and levelled wild charges including that he deposited money in Swiss banks. Unfortunately, people believed such lies and defeated such humble and honest leader.
So, DMK will always repeat lies. For example, its poll manifesto assured to give Rs 2500 for paddy per quintal and Rs 4000 for sugarcane per ton as procurement price. But, till date, it didn't fulfil it. But, BJP rule at the Centre hiked paddy procurement price from Rs 1110 to 2083 (67 percent hike) during the past 9 years. DMK promised to procure copra to help ryots. But it didn't do it. The Centre, however, procured 1.65 lakh tons of copra in TN this year as per the resuest of state government. It promised not to take farm land without the consent of ryots. But, it detained farmers under the Goondas Act for opposing the government action to take over their land. For Tanjore itself, DMK gave many poll promises including upgrading the GH as multi speciality hospital, construction of a memorial for King Rajaraja Chozha, establish tapioca mill, popularise Tanjore dolls etc. But, nothing was fulfilled. The Centre offered Rs 1000 cr under Smart Scheme for Tanjore. The government said Rs 827 was spent. But, no major development was seen due to corruption. The Centre okayed to operate 20 seated flight from Tanjore, built 53573 houses under PMAY, provided 3.85 lakh house hold water connections, 1.19 lakh free LPG connections, medical insurance benefit for 1.56 lakh persons, Rs 6000 per year to 1.19 lakh farmers, and Rs 5208 cr Mudhra loan in Tanjore district. BJP gives importance to Tanjore as it is a rice bowl of TN.
But, the Tanjore MP didn't do anything for Tanjore and ensure Cauvery water for delta ryots, he rued. He lauded the services of party district deputy secretary Rajni Ganesan's service to people of the district.
BJP leader Karuppu Muruganantham, Hindu Makkal Katchi president Arjun Sampath and many others attended the function.
