Don't bother about opposition parties: Minister

DMK cadres should not  bother about opposition parties' criticism while campaigning in the Erode East bypoll. They can highlight the achievements of DMK rule to get victory easily, said Housing Minister and DMK South district secretary S Muthusamy. Addressing DMK booth committee members meeting here on Friday, he said that the opposition would highlight property tax and water tax hikes to canvass votes. 

The hikes were made only to relieve TN from debt trap. But, CM didn't stop any welfare schemes. In fact, he offered 85 development schemes for Erode district including 2 new bus stand projects for Erode.  He offered free travel for women in TNSTC,  despite it suffers with huge loss. The DMK rule already passed a bill to take over Erode CN College in order to create a massive indoor sports stadium there. 

‘Sympathy’ votes

But,  the bill was pending for President's accent for many months. So, the DMK  rule was facing much difficulty in even carrying out schemes for the welfare of people. Recently, the CM's stand against a top person (Governor) brought world wide attention and laurel, he noted.  The snap poll, thrusted on us within 16 days from the death of Thirumagan Evara, by rulers at the Centre. In fact, they allowed us to get all 'sympathy' votes. So, we should not bother what is the symbol of opposition (AIADMK) candidate or talk against them indecently.

The CM himself asked MLAs to avoid such speeches in Assembly. The cadres should visit each house including the houses of AIADMK cadres to highlight the achievements of DMK rule. If anyone antoganise us, we should tolerate it.  The people would ask us only to fulfill their needs.   In fact, during the corona period, we alone offered rice and other help to people. During the campaign, their problems should be noted and after poll,  they should be attended. 

The CM came to Erode once he heard the death of Evara and named Cutchery road after him.  He offered Kamaraj award to his father.  He himself offered the seat (Erode East) to Congress on his own after consulting allies. So, we should work hard to ensure great victory for Congress candidate. Within a few days after the victory, the CM would visit Erode to inaugurate the athikadavu Avinasi water project, he asserted.
