Dr NGP Arts and Science college organizes a national conference

Dr NGP Arts and Science college organized a national conference on ‘social innovation and business sustainability’ on February 9 at its college premises in the city. While principal of the college V Rajendran delivered the welcoming address, the presidential address was delivered by Nalla G Palaniswamy, chairman of KMCRET and the felicitation address was given by Thavamani D Palaniswami, secretary of the college. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of adopting new technologies for business sustainability especially after Covid-19 pandemic and the importance of being up to date.  

Arun Umapathy, head of Turnkey solutions, Fanuc India limited in Bengaluru chaired the inaugural session. He shared his knowledge on real time situations for innovations in the IT and automation sector and highlighted his perceptions with examples of social innovations in supply chain. He explained the role of team work and leadership to achieve maximum customer satisfaction in business. He highlighted the basic needs and the future of innovators in information technology and the operations. He also elaborated the pillars of business sustainability like environment, socially responsible and economic.

Inventions and commercialization

The keynote address was delivered by Vishal Nair, co-founder and director of LightNSalt private limited in Palakkad. He shared his views on social innovations and sustainable development in marketing. He elaborated the session on the skills that students should gain to promote and sustain with the technologically developing society.  He spotlights the challenges that an innovator faces and also suggests counter measures to overcome it. He also provided real time examples for inventions and commercialization such as the milk farmers crisis and jack fruit 365.

The valedictory session was presided over by V Selvaraj, former director of ministry of corporate affairs. He has elucidated about business ethics and corporate governance. He also elaborated about Companies Act 2013 and functioning of the corporate sector in accordance with law.  The growth and sustainability of the corporate sectors in India has been briefly explained with examples. He explained the role of Government in uplifting the economy and unemployment of people in accordance with corporate. 

The Social Responsibility of Corporate towards the slow economic zones had been discussed in brief.
A BCom student Sandhya delivered a vote of thanks. Over 1000 students, research scholars and academicians from various colleges and universities attended the conference. D Parasakthi, head of commerce department, S Suguna, head of commerce with cost accounting department, K Vanaja, head of department of commerce with professional accounting and Arunpriya, head of commerce finance organized the conference.
