The 18th Graduation Day Ceremony of Kongunadu Arts & Science College (KASC) was held today. Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, former Chairman of ISRO and current Member of the Space Commission, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The event was presided over by Dr. C.A. Vasuki, Secretary and Director of the college. Other dignitaries present included Dr. Sangeetha, Principal, and Dr. O.N. Pramasivan, Treasurer.
Addressing the graduating students, Shri Kiran Kumar emphasized that this moment marked the culmination of years of hard work, parental support, and academic guidance. He called it a significant milestone in the students’ lives.
Reflecting on India’s journey in space exploration, he highlighted the critical role of technology in fields such as weather forecasting, crop yield estimation, communication, and broadcasting. He added that space technology has also enabled innovations like remote learning and telemedicine, making high-quality education and healthcare accessible even in remote areas.
He pointed out that these advancements were made possible by professionals who once stood where the students are today – graduating students from colleges- who built these capabilities step by step.
Encouraging students to think beyond limits, he said that in science and technology, it’s never too late to do what has not been done before. He mentioned that you should never feel everything has already been achieved—there is always something new to discover. He asked the students to believe in their tremendous knowledge and potential.
He spoke about India’s ambitious space goals, including human spaceflight mission, the establishment of an Indian space station by 2035, and a proposed lunar landing and return mission by 2040.
Asking students to take inspiration from ISRO’s journey, he said that the organization has shown that the limitation of resources should never be a deterrent. He added that with persistence, you will face failures, but each one is a stepping stone. He called upon them to push beyond their current knowledge and capabilities, for it is what makes the impossible possible.
In her welcome address, Dr. C.A. Vasuki called it a proud moment for the college to host a luminary like Shri Kiran Kumar, who has been instrumental in shaping India’s space missions. She described graduation as a transformative phase in a student’s life.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, she said, “You know but a little of that which is within you; behind you is an ocean of infinite power and blessedness.” She urged students to embrace change, step out of their comfort zones, and commit themselves to sincere efforts in the service of the nation.
Dr. Vasuki encouraged graduates to explore opportunities in emerging fields such as space research, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Biotechnology, and Fintech.
Principal Dr. Sangeetha presented the college’s annual report, highlighting key academic and institutional achievements over the past year.
A total of 1,045 students—including 834 undergraduates and 211 postgraduates—received their degrees. Among them, 12 students were honored as university rank holders. The degrees were conferred by Shri Kiran Kumar, making it a truly memorable day for all.
