DRO receives 206 petitions

While members of public submitted 206 petitions regarding civic amenities, government benefits, etc to the DRO Santhoshini Chandra at the public grievance redressal day function held at the collectorate on Monday, AITUC state secretary S Chinnasamy submitted a petition pleading to ensure minimum wages for the temporary workers.

He said the minimum wage to be paid to the temporary workers for the period from 01-04-2022 to 31-03-2023 has been fixed by the Collector on 30-06-2022 and also published in the Erode District Gazette dated 28-07-2022.

Accordingly, the cleanliness workers in the municipal corporation should get Rs 707, Rs 592 in municipality, Rs 515 in Town panchayats, Rs 438 per day as wage in the village panchayats. Based on the above, minimum wages were fixed for cleaniness, security and multi-purpose medical staffs working in government hospitals, drivers, computer operators, DBC employees, etc. But, the order was not yet adhered by any local body and hospitals, causing hardship to thousands of workers. The recommended wages for last 2021-22 was also not given in many institutions.  So, he wanted necessary action to enforce collector's order to ensure the pending wages and arrears.
