Housing, Prohibtion Enforcement and Excise Minister S Muthusamy has denied the allegations of former Chief Minister Edappadiyar that 2000 people have been included as witnesses in the ongoing Enforcement Department case against TASMAC.
Erode East MLA Chandrakumar donated various equipment worth Rs 40 lakhs to the Erode Government Hospital under his Constituency Development Fund.
At that event, the Minister gave an interview to reporters: It is not right for the Opposition Leader to make such allegations. How can 2000 people be included as witnesses. Similarly, he continues to allege that Rs 5600 crore is going to the top through TASMAC. I have full evidence. Not a single rupee of corruption has taken place. Some people may have made mistakes here and there. Our police have taken action against them.
Even now, the salary of TASMAC employees has been increased by Rs 2000 per month. But, 541 employees have had their salary hikes withheld due to their mistakes. An investigation is underway on them.
Work is underway to install 12,000 billing machines in TASMAC shops. Now, not even a single rupee can be bought more in the shops. Currently, the work of transferring TASMAC shop employees through counseling is underway. It will continue.
The court, political parties and public institutions will be considered to take a decision on providing liquor in tetra packs in TASMAC shops as the glass bottles were found broken in many areas. In Kerala, a scheme has been introduced to sell liquor in plastic bottles and recollect bottle by paying Rs 20. There are few shops there. There are private liquor shops there. 500 liquor shops have already been closed in TN. There are demands to close many more. We will consider it. We are taking steps to set up liquor shops in at least 500 square feet space to overcome the problem of inadequate space in liquor shops. Closing liquor shops immediately will create many problems, he said.
Erode East MLA Chandrakumar, Collector S Kandasamy, District Revenue Officer Shanthakumar and many other high-ranking officials were present.
Earlier, he unveiled a new nameplate on Erode Mandapam Road to mark the renaming of it after former MLA and Minister EVKS Elangovan.
