EPS launches scathing attack on Assembly Speaker, accuses him of working for DMK

Leader of Opposition and AIADMK interim general secretary Edappadi K Panaliswami on Tuesday made a scathing attack on the Tamil Nadu assembly speaker by accusing him of working on the behest of the ruling DMK party.

He said, “The DMK, which cannot face us, is taking revenge on us through the speaker. It will never work out as only justice will win in the end.”A day after MLAs from AIADMK’s EPS faction were moved by the Speaker for creating ruckus in the assembly for allowing former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam to continue as the deputy opposition leader, EPS had met media persons.

He said, “It has been more than two months since we submitted a letter requesting the speaker to appoint RB Udhayakumar as deputy opposition leader and Agri Krishnamoorthy as deputy secretary. We have also submitted more than one remainder. Without taking a proper decision on this matter, the speaker had allowed OPS to continue in the post and allowed him to sit in the chair of deputy opposition leader.”

The speaker who is supposed to act without any bias, is acting in favour of the ruling party, he said. “Having a political ideology is different from heading the legislative assembly. The deputy opposition leader post should also be filled in a similar way to that of other posts in the assembly. But it has been refused in the assembly by the speaker,” he added.

He accused the speaker of acting on behest of the DMK president MK Stalin. “Stalin, who cannot face us on a political front, is using the speaker to take revenge on us. It will never happen as only justice will prevail in the end,” he added.
