Ethiopian delegates visit SVPISTM for skill development

A five-member delegation from Ethiopia visited the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM) on February 20 as part of an overseas skill development program aimed at enhancing expertise in the textile industry. The visit was part of a five-day program organised by Texcoms Worldwide Textile Solutions.
Dr. P Alli Rani, Director of SVPISTM, welcomed the delegates, led by Sileshi, Deputy Director General of the Manufacturing Industry Development Institute (MIDI), Government of Ethiopia. The team explored the institute’s Technical Textile Wing and Textile Chemical Processing Laboratory, gaining insights into sustainable research and innovative approaches supporting the Indian textile and apparel sector.
During their visit, the delegates were briefed on advanced cotton cultivation techniques, government grants available for farmers, and cutting-edge harvesting technologies aimed at improving efficiency and productivity. Sileshi commended SVPISTM’s contributions to research and development in textiles, highlighting its role in promoting industry growth.
The exchange marked a significant step in international collaboration, strengthening ties between Ethiopia and India in the field of textile education and skill development.
