Father of the college girl, who was pushed in front of a train at St Thomas Mount railway station, died at a private hospital in the city on Friday. Police suspect it to be suicide. On October 13, Sathya, a B.Com second year student, was waiting for the train when Sathish, her neighbour, had approached her and started to argue with her.
In the heat of the argument, he pushed her onto the tracks when an electric train started to enter the station in front of the public.Alerted by passengers, railway police reached the spot immediately and retrieved the body of the deceased. The body in turn was sent to the government hospital for postmortem.
The St Thomas Mount Commissioner (Law and Order) had formed three teams and the railway police had formed four teams to arrest the accused. The accused was found near Thoraipakkam earlier this day and has been taken to Mambalam police station for inquiry.
Meanwhile, Sathya’s father Manickam, who was said to have suffered a heart attack after he heard of the news about his daughter’s death, has died without responding to treatment at a private hospital. But police suspect it to be a suicide.
