With the fishing ban coming to an end in the state, the availability of fish has increased at markets in the district. As a result, people are flocking to fish markets in the district.
In Ukkadam fish market, a kilogram of ‘Vanjaram’ fish is sold at Rs 700 against its last week’s price Rs 1300. Similar, price of ‘Parai’ fish has come down to Rs 320 per kilogram from Rs 600 per kilogram, ‘Matthi’ fish price come down from Rs 400 to Rs 200, ‘Nethili’ price dropped from Rs 420 to Rs 250, ‘Semmeen’ price dropped from Rs 650 to Rs 400, ‘Vavval’ price dropped from Rs 900 to Rs 620, ‘Aila’ fish dropped from Rs 450 to Rs 250, ‘Kelathi’ price dropped from Rs 550 to Rs 320, ‘Koduva’ price dropped from Rs 850 to Rs 550 and ‘Sankara’ price dropped from Rs 400 to Rs 260. Price of crab has also come down, and a kilogram is sold at Rs 430 against its last week price Rs 680.
