Food safety inspections ramp up ahead of Yercaud Summer Festival

As the 47th Yercaud Summer Festival and Flower Show kicks off tomorrow, local restaurants have come under scrutiny from food safety officials to ensure hygienic food practices and reasonable prices for tourists.
The festival, starting on May 22, 2024, and running until Sunday, May 26, 2024, promises various attractions and facilities arranged by the district administration for visitors' convenience.
In a proactive measure to maintain food safety standards, District Food Safety Officer Mr. Katiravan led a comprehensive inspection of all restaurants in Yercaud on May 21, 2024.
The inspection team fined three establishments Rs. 2,000 each for using prohibited plastic bags and issued inspection notices.
They also emphasized the importance of hygienic food preparation and mandated that food prices be issued through computerized receipts.
Daily inspections will continue throughout the festival to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and to provide a pleasant experience for the influx of tourists.
