Forest dept investigating the death of a wild elephant in Mettupalayam

The Forest Department is investigating the death of a wild elephant found in the Neelimalai Reserve Forest area near Thekkampatti, under the Mettupalayam forest range in Coimbatore district.
During a routine patrol, a male wild elephant was discovered dead in a watering hole in Dasampalayam village near Thekkampatti. Upon receiving this information, Mettupalayam Forest Officer Joseph Stalin and his team promptly arrived at the location. They retrieved the elephant's body from the puddle and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of death.
The Forest Department has stated that the exact cause of the elephant's death will be known after the post-mortem examination is completed.
