The Founder’s Day and Diamond Jubilee celebrations of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women were held today. While Mr.R.Dinesh, Executive Vice Chairman, TVS Supply Chain Solutions, Chennai was the Chief Guest, Mr. J.A Chowdary, Innovator, Advisor and Start-up Evangelist , Hyderabad was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Also present on the occasion was Mr. Sundararaj Theodore Baskaran, Film Historian and Wildlife Conservationist from Bengaluru, who was awarded the GRT Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion. Mr.G.Rangaswamy, Managing Trustee, GRG Trust presided over the function.
The Chief Guest in his address on the occasion congratulated everyone and said that an institution is not built by a few individuals, but it is a culmination of all the efforts and goodwill of everyone associated has to make it happen. He mentioned that every student has aspirations and the institution will help fulfil them. He further congratulated everyone on the occasion and said that he looked forward to celebrating many more milestones of the institution. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Chowdary in his address lauded the GRG Group of Institutions for their commitment and wished them all the best in their future endeavors.
Founder’s Day
The GRG Incubator was launched by Mr. Chowdary on the occasion. Prof. P.Sadhasivam, Director GRGSMS gave an overview of the incubator centre. The KCW Future Document was released on the occasion by Mr. Dinesh. Prof.S.Balasubramanian, Director, GRGCAS presented an overview of the vision document.The Chief Guest, Mr. Dinesh also launched The GRG Centre of Excellence in Life Sciences on the occasion.
Another highlight on the occasion was the conferment of The GRG Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. Sundararaj Theodore Baskaran, Film Historian and Wildlife Conservationist.
The GRG Brand Ambassadors- Ms.Akhila Rajeshwar, B.Sc Mathematics (1985-88), Ms. Geetha Ram, B.Sc Physics (1988-91) and Ms. R.Vimala IAS, B.Sc Chemistry (1995-98) were honoured on the occasion with mementoes and citations. 28 staff members were conferred with the ‘GRG Institutions Long Service Award’. These staff members had served in the institution for more than 25 years.
Two special awards were conferred to Dr.Nirmala, former Principal of the college and Mrs. Geetha Mukund, former Controller of Examinations of the college, during the event. A grand march past of the NCC cadets, followed by a dance by 408 students, depicting women power, was a highlight on the occasion.Earlier Mr.G.Rangaswamy, delivered the welcome address and introduced the Chief Guest.
