Girl child protection rally held

READ, Sathy based NGO, arranged a rally  at Sathy to create awareness on the need to protect girl children.It has been working with various government departments for the past 22 years for the educational advancement of children, economic advancement of women and the welfare of workers.

It arranged an awareness rally at Sathy and it was flagged off by Satyamangalam Municipal Chairman Janagi Ramasamy. TN Women Commission Geetha Natarajan, Gobi Municipal chairman Nagarajan, READ Director Karuppusamy, Additional Director Maheswaran social activists Ponnusamy, Sriram,  Thambirajan,  and Dr Sarina attended the function. About 3000 people from Satyamangalam, Gobi, Bhavanisagar, Nambiyur, Puliyampatti and Erode participated in the rally which started from SRT Corner and proceeded to Sunder Mahal with the slogan of 'Let's protect the girl child'.

This was followed by a seminar and welfare assistance to people.  About 400 students and women were given scholarships, skill development training and Rs 20 lakh to start self-employment ventures in this programme.
