Gold and Jewellery Artisans plea to CM in Coimbatore

Coimbatore is famous for its gold jewelery handicrafts.There are around 2,000 formal and around 40,000 home-based jewelery workshops.1,50,000 people are getting jobs through 
them. 
Most of the factories are facing problems like lack of security, difficulty in getting proper credit to increase production volume, lack of testing facility. 
The executives of Coimbatore Gold Jewelery Makers Association, Coimbatore Gold Jewelers Association, Gold Jewelery Association (Gold Bullion’s Association), Coimbatore Goldsmiths Council, Coimbatore Artisans Gold Jewelery Makers Association, Certified Goldsmiths Association. Tamil Nadu Vishwakarma Council, Swami Vivekananda Cultural Society, Diamond India, Royal Bengal Society, Gold Jewelery Manufacturers and All Workers Welfare Association. Coimbatore Goldsmiths Association, Southern District Conference Class Tamil Vishwakarma Kinship Association, Coimbatore District Gold Jewelery Labourers and Workers' Progressive Association met and presented petitions to the CM MK Stalin containing various demands including establishment of a gold jewelery industrial park with all facilities and to help raise the standard of living of the goldsmiths. 
The CM assured to take appropriate steps to resolve their problems. Subsequently, he visited gold jewelery workshops at Dharmaraja Koil Road, Kempatti Colony, Coimbatore and inquired about the demands and requirements of the goldsmiths.
At that time, the Chairman of the Coimbatore Jewelery Producers Joint Group, Mr. Raghunathan Subbiah requested him to provide necessary assistance for the upliftment of the livelihood of the goldsmiths and the advancement of their industry.
After hearing their demands he said, "Be confident, the government will provide all necessary assistance."
During this event, Chief Secretary Mr. Na. Muruganandam, Secretary, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department Mrs. Archana Patnaik, Commissioner of Industry and Commerce Mr. Mr. Nirmalraj, Chairman of Coimbatore Collector Krantikumar Padi, and RoyalHigh officials were present.
